Start-down : NGSET leaves from La Gaude

On the list of start-ups closing down, there is one more : NGSET, a company which established in March 2000 near IBM in La Gaude and worked in the software sector. Its liquidation was pronounced last June 27th by the commercial court of Nanterre. Next generation Software Engineering Technologies is one of these companies from the Paris area which decided to establish in the south at the beginning of 2000. Set up in 1994, and with 24 employees recently, they were in confined conditions at Ruel-Malmaison.

Human resources: BPI gives 10% of their capital

Médéric Prévoyance, the provident institution of the Médéric Group has just acquired 10% of the BPI’s capital. Bernard Paoli International, set up on the research park of Sophia Antipolis, is an agency specialized in layoff process matters, in consulting of career evolution and in reindustrialisation. Founded in 1984, it’s the largest French agency in this sector. It counts around 450 employees, owns 15 offices in France among which one in Sophia and owns as well subsidiaries in Europe. As they came closer to Médéric should allow them to increase their development in Europe.

Communication : Corp. pour le "city magazine" de Villefranche

La consultation lancée en mai par la mairie de Villefranche pour l’édition du magazine municipal, a été remportée par Corp. . "Villefranche Magazine", sur 28 pages, diffusera tous les deux mois des informations relatives à la vie de la cité. Le nouveau "city magazine" a été créé par Franck Chevrier, directeur de création de Corp, société fondée à Nice en décembre 2000 par la fusion de deux agences de communication.

Médéric Prévoyance, l'institution de prévoyance du groupe Médéric vient d'acquérir 10% du capital de BPI. Bernard Paoli International, implanté sur la technopole de Sophia Antipolis, est un cabinet spécialisé dans l'accompagnement de plan sociaux, dans le conseil en évolution de carrière et dans la réindustrialisation. Fondé en 1984, c'est le plus gros cabinet français dans ce domaine. Il compte environ 450 employés, dispose de 15 bureaux en France dont celui de Sophia, et possède aussi des filiales à l'étranger.

The sites which have disappeared have their virtual graveyard.In the newsletter of Monday August 6th Toutsurlacom.com talks about "Ghost Sites", set up in 1996 by a 45 year old New-York city dweller. Steve Baldwin wanted ”dead sites not to disappear”. In a kind of “museum of e-failures”, he thus offers a page (sometimes the last one which mentions the end of the project and which thanks surfers) of some 525 dot.coms which have collapsed during the great Web epic.

The consultation launched in May by the Villefranche city hall for the publishing of the municipal magazine has been won by Corp.. “Villefranche Magazine”, over 28 pages, will diffuse news linked to the life of the city every two months. The new city magazine has been created by Franck Chevrier, the creation manager of Corp., a company founded in Nice in December 2000 by the merger of two communication agencies.

Au chapitre des disparitions de start-up, une nouvelle inscription : NGSET, une société qui s'était implantée en mars 2000 à proximité d'IBM à La Gaude et qui travaillait sur le créneau logiciel. Sa liquidation judiciaire a été prononcée le 27 juin dernier par le Tribunal de Commerce de Nanterre. Next Generation Software Engineering Technologies est une de ces entreprises de la région parisienne qui ont pris le chemin du sud au début de 2000. Fondée en 1994, elle se trouvait à l'étroit à Ruel-Malmaison où elle était montée à 24 personnes.

Telecoms : Siemens would cut 5.000 supplementary jobs off

According to the Financial Times of Friday August 3rd, the German giant Siemens plans to reduce its staff. The article "Siemens draws up radical cuts at fixed-line unit" mentions 5.000 jobs off to add to the already decided 10.000 ones. Those job cuts which principally target the ICN divisions (Information and Communication Networks) will be done out of Germany and will hit Asia more particularly.

Victorine: the rescuer is Studios de France

Studios de France has been chosen to take the Victorine up. The municipal council of Nice has confirmed, the choice of the rescuer on Friday June 25th. They will have a of 18 year concession. The city has confirmed that they really wanted to launch the famous studios of the Victorine again. As owner of the land, (7 hectares in downtown), as well as the building, the city will bring 12 million francs for the renovation, as the four stages are particularly damaged. The manager will invest 10.8 million francs and will pay for losses at the beginning (2.7 million).

The Deutsche Bank sets up in Nice

The Deutsche Bank S.A., the French subsidiary of the first German bank, has chosen an old Belle-Epoque house with a garden for its first setting up out of Paris. Such a choice is resolutely different from the 75 other banks already established in Nice which have chosen, in overall, more functional premises.But the difference is the niche that the Deutsche Bank intends to deal with in order to distinguish themselves from French rivals. For instance, they offer households some consulting services rather than financial products.

High Court of Justice of Nice: no new intern inquiry

No new inquiry of the ISJ (Inspection des Services Judiciaires; Judicial services inspection) to the High Court of Justice of Nice: this is what Elisabeth Guigou, the Minister of Justice, has mentioned. After the declarations of the District Attorney Eric de Montgolfier who complained about the disappearance of several important files and about the too-strong influence of some Masonic networks, the judges, who met on October 27th in general assembly, have asked to submit the ISJ.

Connaissez-vous le "grid"? Ce terme anglais, qui signifie "réseau en grille", représente aujourd'hui l'Internet du futur. Un réseau du futur qu'IBM va contribuer à construire en Grande-Bretagne et aux Pays-Bas en fournissant les équipements de stockage de données. Le Financial Times dans un article "IBM joins push to construct next-generation internet " explique que le système sera plus facile à utiliser et sera des millions de fois plus puissant que l'actuel Internet.

Nice: projects for the Arenas

The future multiplex cinema of the Arenas (20 theatres and 6.000 seats) has still no building permit. But several problems have already been solved as the parking problem. Thus, project developers have decided to build 1.200 supplementary spaces, adding to the 2.500 parking spaces which already exist in this business area. But, among other, there is still the frontage problem on the René Cassin avenue which is broadening at the moment.Since then, another project was set up and should allow this area, which is well situated in front of the Nice Côte d'Azur airport, to recover.
