Nice: 1st national meeting for local governments and Internet

Collectivité «on line» is the first forum of the Net and the NTIC (New technologies of information and communication) dedicated to local governments. It will gather on April 18th and 19th 2001 in Nice Acropolis about a thousand of local decision-makers. This forum is organised by the network association IDEAL called Réseau IDEAL set up in 1985 with the mission to encourage the exchange of “savoir-faire” between local governments.

Toutsurlacom.com, from a NetValue survey, reviewed the audience of tourism websites in February 2001 and noticed that “Nearly 30% of French Internet users visited a tourism website in February 2001". In this category (it gathers travel, tourism and transport of persons websites), the website of Nice carnival, carnavaldenice.net has been one of the French websites the most visited reaching a number of 179 000 visitors.

AOM-Air Liberté : grève sur le Nice-Paris

La grève du personnel d'Air Liberté et d'AOM a été particulièrement suivie à Nice où les vols des deux compagnies sur Paris Orly ont été annulés (la liaison aérienne avec la capitale a continué d'être assurée par Air France). Les deux compagnies aériennes, qui appartiennent à SAirGroup sont sous la menace d'un plan drastique de restructuration qui devrait être annoncé le 25 avril, date de l'assemblée générale de leur propriétaire, le SAirGroup en pleine déconfiture. Les salariés qui ont entamé une phase d'action ont manifesté dans l'après-midi sous les fenêtre du Medef.

Nice : Capital Gestion investit dans CLL Pharma

Si Sud Capital Gestion, à Marseille, n'a guère été présente dans le financement des start-up sophipolitaines, en revanche, cette société de capital-risque vient d'investir une dizaine de millions de francs dans CLL Pharma, une entreprise niçoise spécialisée dans la conception de médicaments génériques. Créée en 1995 par Claude Laruelle, ancien chercheur des départements médecines humaines de Virbac et Arkopharma, CLL Pharma (une trentaine de personnes) cherchait des fonds pour son développement et son regroupement sur Sophia Antipolis.

The furniture was sent to the United States on Friday, April 13th. The company, which didn't succeed to be listed on the stock exchange as it wished, had removed its French subsidiary set up on the research park (35 people) in two times. A first social plan came up in December 2000. A second mass lay-off plan for the staff left took place in March 2001.

Dernier acte juste avant le week-end pascal pour Healthcenter Services. La société sophipolitaine, filiale d'une start-up américaine spécialisée dans l'imagerie médicale, a fermé. Le mobilier a été expédié aux Etats-Unis vendredi 13 avril. L'entreprise, qui n'avait pas pu s'introduire en bourse comme elle l'avait souhaité, avait supprimé sa filiale française installée sur la technopole (35 personnes) en deux temps. Un premier plan social était intervenu en décembre 2000. Un second licenciement collectif, pour le personnel restant, avait eu lieu en mars 2001.

ISDNet, Internet Service Provider (ISP) was bought out by Cable & Wireless. The telecom operator took out eleven ISP at the same time in nine countries of continental Europe for 1 billion euros. Second Internet French provider after France Telecom, ISDNet is the only French ISP among them. Managed by Jean-Luc Nahon, this company not very well known by the general public (it is specialized in bulk sales) is strongly implanted in Sophia Antipolis at the World Trade Centre.
