The manufacturers of the department worry because La Glacière rubbish dump suddenly closed down (see article : 'Wastes : 270.000 tonnes left to stock!'). As soon as Monday, the consequences of the Administrative Court were particularly prejudicial since no substitute solution has been decided. So now, where are the builders going to dump their rubble ? Where are the manufacturers going to put their non-polluting wastes ?

GPRS mobile phones : a one year delay ?
When are the GPRS mobiles going to be on the market ? They are supposed to make us forget the WAP slowness and cost in the Internet access and to make us wait for the arrival of the UMTS technology and the mobile phones of the third generation. But they are very late. During the GSM World Congress in Cannes, in February 2000, SFR, for example, announced the first launching to users for June 2000 and the marketing during the last three month of 2000. They are not on time.
A new supermarket scheduled in Grasse
Hyper U, which has been struggling for ten years, should be allowed to build its supermarket at Grasse's gates. Eventually the distributor was pronounced right after several processes and resorts : the Marseilles administrative appeal court pronounced in its favour. Système U intends to invest 100 million francs in the building of a commercial surface of 3.000 m2 which should be added to a shopping mall of about fifteen shops and a parking lot for 600 cars. Such a piece of news risks not to please to little shopkeepers…
Wastes : 270.000 tonnes left to stock !
The serial of rubbish dump in the department is definitely a real bad one. Latest episode : the re-closure of the La Glacière site in Villeuneuve-Loubet. The last resort rubbish dump. In March 2000, the cancellation of the prefect order which authorizes the exploitation of the La Glacière rubbish dump has posed a serious problem : the whole west of the department was without any solution to stock its 270.000 tonnes of wastes.

The persons in charge of this project have already made several visits at Sophia Antipolis which is one of the selected sites with Rennes and Paris area. However, Sophia particularly well situated in the mobility and the Internet seems to be a good site for them. The project depends of the UTMS licence though.
