The main goal of the F.I.S.A.C. (Intervention and support fund for craftsmanship and commerce) is to encourage the modernization of commerce and craftsmanship in Nice and to help in the promotion campaigns. The first action took place from April 10th until 22nd in the city centre (Easter festivities, craftsmanship day which followed in May, elaboration of an Internet gallery).

Nice summit, which will be under the French presidency from December 7th to 9th, might face some clashes. First, it is a 'group of the Alpes-Maritimes for a European off-summit ' which called for a demonstration, like the one of Seattle, against globalization. The group, which gathers about twenty organizations (PCF, Verts, MRAP, Confédération paysanne, LCR, etc) announced to reach 30 000 demonstrators in Nice on December 7th and 8th.

Will restaurant owners of Saint-Laurent's harbour respect the decision taken on Wednesday August 30th by their association? Will they remove their tables and chairs which invaded the pavements and that the DDE (Buildings and Equipment Branch of the department) firmly ordered to remove? The answer will be given on Monday March 4th. Last August 1st, indeed, the DDE had ordered the restaurant owners to respect the authorized limits. A month delay was given in order to leave the pavements for pedestrians. Monday is the last day for this ultimatum.However, it isn't the only thing.

Commercial court: a woman at the presidency

The arrival of Arlette Armaroli at the presidency is an event for the reopening of Cannes' commercial court. It is the first time in the department that a woman takes the presidency of a commercial court. Arlette Armaroli, former president of Women company managers, replaces Jean Boulay for this position (who occupied it for eight years). The judicial reopening took place in an atmosphere full of doubts.

Two satellites of Alcatel Cannes in Cannes ready for the big travel in space. Monaco is definitely giving all it has got on a broadband Internet access providing. After having tested the ADSL as soon as the end of last year (a technology which allows to receive 500 kilobit data by second via classical telephone lines), Monaco Telecom has just launched a technical experimentation of the WLL (Wireless Local Loop) and thus it will test the 3.5 GHZ frequency band. Cegetel, the subsidiary operator of Vivendi uses the Monegasque plat-form in depth (it owns 51% of Monaco Telecom shares) to finalize its broadband Internet services.
