Mougins won't get its multiplex
The project to build a mutiplex cinema (12 screens, a sitting capacity of 1860, and 620 car parking spaces) in the north of Saint-Martin's ZAC in Mougins won' t be realized. Through lack of obtaining the authorisation of the Alpes-Maritimes' business equipment commission last July, the town council had passed the decision power onto a higher council : the national commission of cinema equipment. The last resort. This national institution gave its decision on Wednesday, December 13th : no to the project of the CGR group (Georges Raymond Group). After hearing the project supporters, the mayor Roger Duhalde and the promoter, then the opponents (representatives of the CCI, the chamber of trade, of consumers, of movie distributors, of Cannes city, and of the town of Mouans-Sartoux), the CNC commission (National film-making centre) has confirmed the refusal of the business equipment commission. However, on the west of the county, other projects to build multiplexes are planned, in particular on Cannes' area.
