Dust SA, the digital laboratory of the future, specialized in the film restoration, finalized its first round of table. Thus, the firm raised 9 million francs, thanks to three British, American and Japanese funds. One of the most promising start-up in Sophia Antipolis, had started from funds of business angels. But, for more than six months, it had been looking for a new contribution to finance its international expansion.The raise it has achieved is really important as it allows the start-up to get an access on three markets. The Japanese investor (Marubeni Network), close to NHK, will allow the opening of a production unit in Tokyo (offices that are equipped to restore films on the spot). In the same way, a production unit will be opened in Los Angeles with the American investors (Lafayette Technologies of Boston), and a third one in London (Netwest) with the British partners. Thus, Dust will be close to its potential customers, the cinema majors and the TV channels.Last year, in June, Dust SA, founded by François Helt (the CEO), and Hervé de Canteloube (the assistant general manager) had achieved a glorious feat when it won the Tremplin Prize for innovation (the prize launched by the Senate), under the nose of the start-ups from Paris. We heard also about the firm after it had entirely restored the video records of the Eichmann trial for 'Un Spécialiste', the film that had been selected in the latest festival of Berlin.However, Dust still had to get its successes materialized by a supply in capital.
