Cannes : Sony will be in the spotlight during the advertising film festival
The advertising world (8,000 participants from the whole world are expected) will be gathered in the Palais des Festivals in Cannes, from June 19th to 24th, for the 47th international advertising film festival. The edition will recognize Sony as the advertiser of the year. Sony was the most rewarded advertiser in the four latest festivals. It received 15 Lions, one of them was the Press & Poster Prize in 1999. On June 24th, it should be rewarded during the closing ceremony. Nobuyuki Idei, the Sony CEO, will not be able to attend the ceremony, but he will speak to the audience via the video.It will be possible to find the diary and the line-up of the different juries of the whole of the festival on the site of the Cannes Lions 2000. There will be also two days dedicated to the Forum about the on-line advertising. They will take place on June 19th and 20th, in the Noga Hilton, at the beginning of the festival. It is a way to admit that today the Web has become a major media and that advertisers cannot ignore it.
