Telefonica and Suez-Lyonnaise could set up in Sophia
This is one of the big settlement event of 2001. The Spanish operator Telefonica, applying for a UTMS licence in France with Suez-Lyonnaise is looking for a site to set up a research and development centre on the UTMS (a hundred of people). The persons in charge of this project have already made several visits at Sophia Antipolis which is one of the selected sites with Rennes and Paris area. However, Sophia particularly well situated in the mobility and the Internet seems to be a good site for them. The project depends of the UTMS licence though. The answer will be given on January 31st, when the four licences will be granted by the Ministry of Finance.
