Nice : a good start for the Village cinemas
The results are encouraging for the Australian company Village Road Show that has opened its Village cinemas at Nice Lingostière on December 6th. From December 29th 1999 to January 16th 2000, the ten movie theatres (1499 seats) received 33 864 persons, a good result. In this way, the multiplex should sell 700 000 tickets a year. Village cinemas has increased of 40% the number of people going to the cinema.Compared to the other French multiplexes, Nice Lingostière has a good position (4th). Only the Kinépolis of Thionville (10 movie theatres as well) arrives distinctly ahead (41 777 tickets). The Dunkerque AMC comes second with 20 screens and doesn't even reach 10% tickets more (36 404) and the third, Bordeaux, receives 35 000 people with its 17 movie theatres. Nice also comes ahead Mulhouse's Kinépolis and its 14 screens (32 053). Obviously, those figures have to be confirmed later on…
