Nice: ok for the multiplex at the Arenas
The big Arenas multiplex planning permission (21 rooms, 5,600 seats, 25,000m², 1,400 parking lot places, 300 million francs of investment) was accepted last week by the city of Nice. If the file, which has lasted to be accepted does not face new obstacles, the works could begin in December with an opening planned for the end of 2001.The project is lead by UGC Méditerrannée, a firm managed by Raoul Aubert, who owns the majority of Nice downtown spectacle rooms and Cinema Olympia in Cannes. The Arenas multiplex, settled just in front of the airport in the business neighborhood, would enter in competition with Village Cinéma (1,500 seats) which opened in December 1999 at Nice Lingostière. The project would contribute to focus the night activities in Western Nice.
