Infineon : 600 million euros of losses on the third quarter
The profit warnings never end in the microelectronic sector. After Philips, STMicroelectronics and others, Infineon, set up like Philips in Sophia Antipolis warned on Wednesday June 20th that its results on the third quarter 2001 (ending on June 30th) would end on an operating loss of 600 million euros. Concerning the turnover, down because of the slowing down of the demand in mobile telephony, has plunged of 30%. Due to this situation, the German group, listed on Frankfurt stock market announced at the same time it would freeze hiring and would not replace vacant positions, freed by normal departures.
