Airport : EasyJet raises in popularity
In the air crisis, positions have changed. In Nice, Air France is still at the head, Air Lib and Air Littoral suffer from their hesitations, whilst the “low cost” companies are growing quickly.
This is a small company which keeps on rising… EasyJet, the British “low cost” company is, in terms of passengers, the airline company which has increased the most on the international airport of Nice Côte d’Azur from January 1st to September 30th 2001. Over the first nine months of the year, EasyJet has thus increased by 29.4% to the fourth place and just behind the third one, Air Lib which looses 30.8% (670.066 passengers)as the company has suffered a lot from its hesitation period since spring.Air France keeps on growing since the historical company has increased by 2.5% with 2.090.342 passengers and of course keeps the first place. But Air France is far from finding back the traffic lost by the duet AOM-Air Liberté. This is shown by figures of traffic between Nice and Orly with a loss of 20% of traffic in July and August, before the events of September 11th. Air Littoral now ranks second. This company has also suffered from the Swissair “crash” and, with 793.398 passengers, they have lost 12.4% compared to the same period in 2000.Another company with a good percentage score: Transavia Airlines. The second “low cost” company of Nice, which has flights to the Netherlands, wins 69.7% to 119.904 passengers.
