Completel extends its optical network to Aix
The telephonic operator, which has built the optical local loop in Nice and Sophia, is inaugurating this Tuesday the extension of its network of Marseilles to Aix-en-Provence with 40 km of fiber.
Today, Tuesday September 25th, Completel is inaugurating the extension of its optical fiber telecom network to Aix-en-Provence. This is the first private telecom operator having built an optical fiber network in the Aix agglomeration. Completel, which has opened a few months ago a local loop in Nice and Sophia Antipolis, was already present in Marseilles where its network is operational since November 1999. The 40 km long extension to Aix makes the Bouches-du-Rhône network up to 190 km.According to Jean Coquebert de Neuville, the CEO of Completel France, “agglomerations, companies and public organizations needs outstanding infrastructures to keep on developing. In Aix-en-Provence, one of these infrastructures is the TGV network. The other infrastructure is our optical fiber telecom network.” “From now on, this network allows all of the economic and public actors in the city to benefit from our broadband solutions in telephony, data transmission and Internet connectivity, the CEO of Completel says. It provides rapidity, security and competitiveness. Many companies from Marseilles have understood this point and they have chosen us since 1999 for their telecommunications. Our new investment in Aix-en-Provence backs thus up our role of real economic partner of the agglomeration.”within two years in Marseilles, the alternative operator has indeed done a really good job. Among its big customers, you can find the Public assistance of hospitals from Marseilles, Avenir Telecom, EDF, Saint Joseph hospital (the first private hospital in France), the city hall of Marseilles, the University of Provence, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Marseilles-Provence and Euroméditerranée. The extension to Aix has already allowed the company to broaden its client book with companies such as Groupama, la Quincaillerie Aixoise, High Co, Merlin Gerin, Waid and e-motive which have joined the new network.
