Nice-Corse: sea traffic is decreasing (- 8%)
This year, the competition between the SNCM and Corsica Ferries on sea links with Corsica would not have been favourable to Nice. That is what is shown by the figures from January 1st to August 31st 2001. Even though, globally, the traffic from France (excluding links from Italy) is decreasing (- 2.5% to 544.000 passengers), Marseilles has much better results. Indeed, Marseilles keeps on rising (+ 2.7% to 435.000 passengers). Even Toulon, which was supposed to be the great looser with the new deal, has done a bit better: - 6% with 108.000 passengers.
