Virbac favoured by the weakness of the euro
During the first six month of the year, the weakness of the euro has noticeably favoured the performance of the Virbac laboratory in Carros. During that period, the results recently submitted to the Supervisory Board by Eric Marée, President of the board of directors, are true to what was expected : a double digit growth and an improvement of profitability. The turnover for the first six months was up to 1,045.8 million francs (as against 879.7 last year that is to say +18.9%) and the operating result to 111.7 million francs (as against 89.4 million francs last year, that is to say +24.9%).As the repartition of expenses traditionally affects more the last six months, the figures of the first six ones can't be forecast for the whole year, Virbac managers says. However late September, the turnover consolidated at 239.3 million euros (1.570 million francs), that is to say + 18.5% compared to 1999 and + 10.2% with equal change basis.
