The Var, the first horticultural department in France

With 1.6 billion francs (244 million euros) of turnover generated in the flower industry by some 1.100 exploitations, the Var ranks first among horticultural departments in France. Its main product remains the rose : 50% of the national production comes from exploitations in the Var. In order to consolidate this horticultural pole, Hyères Hortipole, a horticulturist pool, has decided to create a label for roses from the Var : Hortisud. The rose from the Var will be the first one to defend such a label.
