Var: the biggest arson fire of the summer stopped this morning
This forest arson fire was the biggest one that firemen have had to deal with for ten years. The arson fire, which destroyed sparse vegetations and forests of the Castellet and the Beausset since Sunday afternoon has been “stopped” (we don’t talk about a total stop yet) this morning around 4.00am. More than 2.000 hectares of vegetation have been destroyed in that disaster which have mobilised 800 fire-fighters. Several camp sites have been evacuated. Last week, in the same area, an arson fire had destroyed 800 hectares of sparse vegetation.Other arson fires have been set in the Bouches-du-Rhône as well. One of those, near the pool of Berre, started on Sunday after 11.00pm. And because of SNCF roads near the fire the railway traffic has had to be stopped until this morning 5.00am. Among others, a Paris-Nice train has been stopped during 5 hours.
