Start-up : Wimba, the laureate of the "Super Nova Competition"
A company of Sophia Antipolis among the first ten European start-ups selected by the magazine Tornado-Insider at the end of a European tour : Wimba. for the "Super Nova Competition", which results have been revealed in May, the magazine had selected a start-up in each of the ten European countries. A single exception for France where two companies have been retained : Wimba and Logmetrix, a company of client-relation management by Internet which is located in the Europ@web pole.Wimba, founded in November 1999 by students coming from the Eurécom Institute, is specialised in voice on IP and provides audio Web solutions ready for use. Its technology allows a surfer equipped with a micro and speakers, to record, to stock, to send, to listen, to manage some vocal messages. A technology particularly well adapted to the e-learning. Thus, in May as well, Wimba has been selected to integrate its technology to the INSEAD Internet plat-form, one of the most prestigious European MBAs, for its on-line learning programs. The start-up, one of the success stories in Sophia, is composed of 17 people at the moment.
