Sophia : the bi-centenary of the S.E.I.N.
For the celebration of its bi-centenary, the Société d’Encouragement pour l’Industrie Nationale (Society for Suppoort of National Industry) is preparing an event which is going to take place on December 12th 2000 at 6.00 pm in the Agora of Sophia Antipolis; two hundred industrial personalities and the association’s institutional partners are expected. What the Society did to help the department of the Alpes-Maritimes will be explain during this event, particularly the action reguarding the adaptation to the great changings. The S.E.I.N. is composed of members coming from Sophia such as Legrand, Schneider, Compaq, or even France Télécom.Created in 1801 by Chaptal and many scientists and politicians of this time, the S.E.I.N. have been supporting innovations and their development throughout industrial changes that they generate for two hundred years. This prestigious past shows that scientific and technical progress is at the disposal of human beings thanks to industry and applied arts.Today and as it used to do in the past, the Society for Support is, among others, at the origin of different programmes at both national and European levels.
