SAME 2000: 'microelectronics connection'

There were about 600 subscribers and about 700 participants on Wednesday at the CICA, Sophia Antipolis for the third edition of the SAME meeting (Sophia Antipolis MicroElectronics). The meeting took place the day after near Aix-en-Provence, at Le Rousset. This link between Aix and Sophia proves the complementarity between both areas. Between Sophia where an enormous potential of R&D for chips design is and le Rousset where the manufactures are (Atmel, STMicroelectronic, Gemplus…).The Club High Tech which has organized the SAME, as well as the association Telecom Valley were favorable to the link between both high tech poles in PACA. And no comparison with the US Silicon Valley where both extremities are more distant between each other than the travel between Aix-en-Provence and Sophia Antipolis!! The microelectronics connection seems to be obvious.
