Sales : Monaco fires the first

The decision taken by the French government to postpone winter sales of two weeks proves to be a real opportunity for Monaco's shopkeepers. In the principality, sales have started on Sunday January 2nd. As a consequence, Monaco's big shopping centres, offering discounts from 30% up to 60% were overcrowded by customers of the French Riviera who were waiting for the sales opening. In this way, shopkeepers of Menton, Nice or Cannes fear for their turnover to decrease and want to launch a plea for a European harmonization for sales dates.
