Nice: the ETSI prepares the "Bluetooth" festival
The ETSI (European Telecommunications Standards Institue) of Sophia Antipolis organises from August 19th to 24th at the Acropolis, the sixth “Bluetooth” festival (Bluetooth UnPlugFest) at Nice Acropolis. Around 440 engineers coming from all over the world are expected. This event, which gathered 300 engineers together last year, allows companies to test the interoperability of Bluetooth products they plan to market.Bluetooth is a radio technology, not expensive, which allows various devices equipped with chips to communicate each other. It prevents from a plethora of cables. The ETSI, although it doesn’t deal with specifications of the Bluetooth norm, is associated to this festival. Several times a year, its service specialized in interoperability tests sets thus up some great technologic events during which companies, which are often competitors, can test the compatibility of their devices with other systems. The series of tests allow them to gain time before they market their product. As far as the first Bluetooth products, they appeared during 2000.
