Lucent: the software networks activity of Sophia would be cancelled
Sophia Antipolis will probably be hit by Lucent second social plan. Indeed, during a staff committee on Tuesday August 21st at Lucent France offices, at Plessis-Robinson (Hauts-de-Seine), the board of directors has confirmed that they were conducting a survey which would lead to the cancellation of the whole software for networks activity. That’s what is revealed by the daily Les Echos on August 22nd. Now, this activity, which hires around 150 people, is essentially located in Sophia and on the Defense site. The French Riviera, between Octel, a subsidiary of Lucent situated at the Arénas in Nice, and the call center of Sophia, had already lost around one hundred jobs during the first reorganization wave of the first half 2001. Still, the second wave will probably hit also the Riviera. At the scale of France, it has been confirmed that 550 jobs would be lost, as it had been announced early August (see article Lucent : 550 jobs shed in France).
