Libé : Nice erases the debt of one of Medecin?s friend
Libération, in its edition of Wednesday August 15th, focuses on the « scandal » provoked by a deliberation of Nice town council on July 13th, which erased a debt worth 28 million francs (4.7 million euros), that Michel Falicon owed to the city in the case of Nice Communication. In the article Nice erases the debt of one of Medecin’s friend, the daily paper reminds that the former deputy of Médecin had been declared accountant de facto by the regional accountancy chamber and imposed to repay this amount of money for his role as a treasurer for Nice-Communication. This paramunicipal association had used 350 million public moneys to finance parties, public relation operations and diverse trips.According to Michel Falicon, quoted by Libération, the allocation represents the usual procedure for a de facto management ». He added that « four deliberations taken under three different municipalities have recognized the community interest of expenses ». The elected members of the left wing, who voted against the deliberation with the support of 11 members of the majority, advised the Finance Minister to refuse this allocation. However, with no much hope to be heard. « Never a minister listened the advice of a town council », asserted Ms Wagner, Michel Falicon’s lawyer.
