Corsica-continent: Corsica Ferries is booming
Without having expected the rules of the invitation to tender for the renewal of the concession, Corsica Ferries increased the frequency of its sea links between Corsica and the continent. The company decided to bring into service its cruise-ferry Sardinia Regina (1,700 passengers) for the link Toulon-Bastia from December 18, with 4 cruises a week. The link will be opened 4 months earlier than it had been planned. At the same time, Corsica Ferries will increase the number of its links from Nice, 6 links more a week (4 more between Nice and Bastia and 2 more between Nice and Calvi). The company which tells it is a 'major operator for sea links between Corsica and the continent', had already announced recently the opening of new links from Toulon, from April 2001 on its Mega-Expresses.This boom comes along with a price discount from December 1, 2000 to March 31, 2001:-one link: 119 FF per person from Toulon or Nice and from Corsica-one link: 499 FF per person + vehicle + cabin from Corsica to Toulon or to Nice (for 2 people: 599 FF)-one return link: 999 FF per person + vehicle + cabin from the continent (Nice or Toulon) to Corsica (for 2 people: 1,150 FF). A new public service will be launched on January 1, 2002, for links between Corsica and continent.
