Conexant: a 30,000 dollar gift to Eurecom
The American company, one of the world leaders in electronics for communications, has renewed its support to the Sophipolitan Institute, specialized in networks and mobile telephony.
Conexant announced on Oct. 16 it would give to Eurecom 30,000 dollars. The gift will be dedicated to the section of researches in mobile communications. The department will thus be able to focus on the development of technologies like for example, the development platform for software radio which leads to 3G solutions; and about the third generation of wireless telecommunications.Teaching-companies partnership'We are proud of this partnership with Eurecom Institute', declared Dominique Andrieu, Director of the design center of Conexant wireless communications in Sophia Antipolis. 'The development of abilities is essential for us and for other high-tech companies in Sophia Antipolis. This gift will allow us to develop a talents incubator which will take advantage from the unique partnership signed between a leading firm in communication technologies and Eurecom Institute'.Our goal is to promote the activities linked to engineering to develop communication leading technologies. 'The partnership between a company and the university is primordial to ensure the success of teaching above all in engineering', the teacher Christian Bonnet from Eurecom announced. 'The Institute benefits from this kind of relations. They allow it to face the market and to develop programs in new technological fields still unexploited by other institutions'.Conexant Systems is sure that proximity with an engineering school famous in the world is absolutely strategic for the development of a region as a center of high tech excellence. For more than 15 years, the group has supported engineering schools and institutes in the entire world: Eurecom Institute in Sophia Antipolis, Ecole des Mines in Saint-Etienne, EIPC (Northern France), ENSEEIHT (Toulouse), UCI. The gift ceremony to Eurecom Institute will take place on Oct. 18 at Médiathel, Sophia Antipolis.
