Cannes : problems for the Johnny's night club

A great protestation, on the Croisette, against 'L'Amnésia', the big night club that Johnny Halliday wants to open at Port Canto and juridical problems hard to overcome…

'L'Amnésia', the Johnny's night club, keeps on creating turmoil on the Croisette (see article 'Johnny lights fire'). In summertime, Port Canto shareholders, were strongly opposed to the project of a night-club which, at that time, could attend 3.000 people (since then, it has been reduced to 1.500). A same protestation on the Croisette, where problems of noise pollution, of traffic jam, of parking facilities have been issued. Whereas some elects of the party in power in Cannes dissociated from the case. On the other hand, an association was in favour of the coming-back of parties in Cannes and defended Johnny.However the problems of 'L'Amnésia' are juridical ones above all. The night-club is going to substitute the Port Canto's Club House. Still, the case of this private port, which is greatly located at the end of the Croisette, is even more difficult as the Club House (around 5.000m2) had been built with no licence in the sixties on the maritime domain. This situation is not regularized yet.Maurice Delauney, the mayor, who is ending his mandate and who doesn't want any other, late last week, has clearly shown his will to see that case end up. But, actually, the State that has not made a decision yet, will decide. However, it is hard to foresee the opening of 'L'Amnésia' next May as Johnny whished…
