Cannes: Carnot High School opens its audiovisual BTS
A first promotion of 24 students is expected on October 1st. A TV live stage is under way, whilst there will be very modern and digital materials.
Carnot High Scool in Cannes will finally open its audiovisual BTS (vocational training certificate). A first promotion of 24 students is expected whilst works to build a TV live stage are under way. The first school day for these BTS students was scheduled for October 1st. But the building works, which have been financed by the Regional Council (17 million francs) are late and the first premises will not be occupied before October 31st.The modern and top-of-the-range material (cameras, editing materials, etc) will be entirely digital (a budget of around 13 million francs). Vehicles are planned to go to shooting places. There will be two options this year: image and editing. Next year, it is planned to open sound editing and production management options as well.Bernard Cadiou, the principal, has been dreaming about this creation for around 10 years. The new mayor, Bernard Bochand, was particularly in favour of this project. The audiovisual BTS, which aims at capitalizing on the communication image that Cannes was given through festivals and exhibitions (FIF, MIPTV, MIPCOM), is also integrated in a whole activity.Cannes already welcomes the ERAC (Ecole régionale d'acteur; regional acting school), while several schools have trainings linked to show (show costumes creation at vocational High School of Les Côteaux, literary A-Level with an audiovisual option at Bristol High School). As far as the new Victorine studios in Nice are concerned, they are not far and partnerships have been set with FR3 and Canal + for trainings.
