Let's go for the French eBay version, the US and world online auction sales giant. The site eBayfrance.com was opened on Thursday, Oct.5th 2000. It is the third European settlement of eBay, which is also present in Great-Britain and in Germany. In France eBay is going to enter into competition with start-ups already well positioned like iBazar (325.000 fixed users in August 2000) or the Sophipolitan company Aucland with its 200.000 French clients and which has just signed a partnership agreement with Wanadoo, or the British site QXL. For eBay France, it will have to be in conformity with the American version spirit, and to focus on its main market, the one for collectors.
