AOM can buy Air Liberté
Swissair can now develop its project of companies gathering, between AOM, Air Liberté and Air Littoral to constitute the second French air pole. The Créteil Commercial Court, authorized on Tuesday, Oct. 17, the transfer of Air Liberté business to AOM Participation, AOM parent company. Air Liberté went into liquidation at the beginning of 1997, and was bought by British Airways. The authorization of the court was thus necessary to valid the transfer. The groupings especially concerns the Nice airport platform, where the three companies gathered together in an only entity should enter in competition with Air France (150 flights a day). The staff fears a staff reduction. A first plan of AOM-Air Liberté groupings at the end of September was about a cut of 350 jobs to balance a heavy deficit: 1 billion francs for the first semester.
