The former mayor of Cannes, already charged for two cases of slot machines and briberies for two casinos in Cannes (Carlton Casino and Grand Riviera), which caused him to be remanded in custody for fifteen months, was charged again. The examining judge in Grasse, Thierry Laurent, who replaced Jean-Pierre Murciano, has this time already charged Michel Mouillot for another case in Cannes which took place in the 90s: the one of the "Relais de la Reine".The former hotels "Gonnet" and "de la Reine", on the Croisette, were destroyed and transformed into residential hotels at the end of the 80s. The promoters, the COGIM, had thus benefited from an incentive COS which allowed them to build on about 2,000 additional square metres compared to what they could get in the current real estate. However, because the residential hotel had not been sold yet (the crisis of the real estate had reached its maximum), the COGIM had asked the possibility to transform the residential hotel in classic apartments in 1994.The "adjustment" for the additional square meters built was set by the city at 22 MF. It is an amount that the association of information and defence in Cannes had estimated as undervalued. A claim had been lodged. Several charging were done (promoter, former general secretary of the Prefecture, former general manager of the equipment in the department, etc.). Moreover, during the investigation, last year, Michel Mouillot's uncle has confessed to cash an amount of 2 MF, before changing his mind. Now, Michel Mouillot is caught.The irony of the fate: the "Relais de la Reine", for which a part was bought out by a foreign investor, would wish to come back to a residential hotel type…
