« A ghetto for millionaires is contested» at Tourrettes (Le Monde)
« It is revolting. Mayors in the area are bowing before billionaires, whereas the latter take refuge behind a wall of 11 kilometres long. This project looks like an American ghettoization. The historian Pierre Vidal-Naquet settled at Callian in the Var has not minced his words in Le Monde to denounce the Domaine de Terre Blanche at Tourrettes. This real estate complex under construction on 270 hectares, gathering two golf courses (36 holes), more than one hundred top of the range villas and a palace, banked on security. Thus, he insisted on the dissuasive wall with “its two meters height , on the video-security cameras placed every 20 meters or on infrared detecting radars.” This high-security concept made the residents angry. Not so far away from Jean de Florette’s area, this ill-feeling of a new type is told in the article of “Le Monde”, Inhabitants of the Var protest against the building of a “ghetto for millionaires".
